Dr. Sherrie Sudler, Ed.D. Principal, School of Excellence Dover Middle School Campus

Greetings, Senator Nation!

I am Dr. Sherrie Sudler, and I am honored to continue serving as the Principal of the School of Excellence on our dynamic and interconnected Dover Middle School Campus since it's opening in August 2023. Each day, I am energized by the opportunity to support our students as they grow, discover their strengths, and transition into young adulthood. My professional objective is to facilitate a collaborative, innovative, and engaging school environment where staff and students thrive. I believe deeply in using research-based practices, strong relationships, and equitable learning opportunities to cultivate student success in a global community.

Educational Journey

I am proud to have earned my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University, graduating with honors. I also hold: A Master of Education in School Leadership from Wilmington University (4.0 GPA) A Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood & Elementary Education from Neumann University (3.36 GPA) Additional graduate coursework in Instructional Leadership, also completed with distinction These experiences have shaped my passion for building strong instructional systems, elevating teaching and learning, and ensuring that every student receives high-quality, standards-aligned instruction.

Professional Experience & Leadership

My career has spanned over 19 years in education, including roles as: Principal, Dover Middle School Campus – School of Excellence Assistant Principal, Everett Meredith Middle School Career & Technical Education Teacher (Grow Your Own K12 Teacher Academy) and Instructional Coach, Appoquinimink High School ELA Teacher & Department Chair, Louis L. Redding Middle School K–12 Curriculum Specialist, Teacher, and Mentor, FAME (Forum to Advance Minorities in Engineering) In my current role, I proudly serve as a leader of: Inclusive Schools and Special Education Career & Technical Education (CTE) Facilities, Operations, and Health & Safety Testing, Technology, Equity, and Cultural Competency Student Services, PTA, and Community Engagement Professional Development and instructional leadership in literacy and student engagement I have also played an integral part in building systems aligned to Capital School District’s strategic plan, developing master schedules that support the whole child, mentoring students in MTSS tiers 2 and 3, leading IEP meetings, and opening new and reimagined learning environments across two districts.

Family & Community Connections

Outside of school, I am actively involved on executive boards for national and community-based organizations, including the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., where I proudly serve in leadership roles. On a personal note, I am an avid runner who has completed over 30 half marathons and 3 full marathons. I am supported in every journey by my wonderful parents, Gloria and Ben Brown, who remain my greatest cheerleaders.
